mile·stone   noun /ˈmīlˌstōn/
  1. A stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles to a particular place
  2. An action or event marking a significant change or stage in development
I have always been fond of watching for highway mile markers on my journeys.  Mile markers mark distances and give me a sense of direction and accomplishment.  When I write directions, I include the mile marker for the exit so that I have a concrete, measurable goal ahead.  Mile markers also break up a "journey of a thousand miles" into single steps.

One's health journey is also one of milestones (or mile markers).  The focus on individual, measurable goals  breaks the health journey into single steps which are obtainable.  There is joy in passing each milestone, and the road ahead becomes more of a victory journey instead of a victim's journey.

Be victorious.
