Bone density and pH

After seeing an improvement in my bone density test, the tech asked me what changes I had made in my routine to bring about the favorable results. For years I had taken my calcium like a good little patient, but until I focused on my pH, I saw no results.

Your urine pH should be between 6.5 in the morning and 7.5 in the evening, but the standard American diet causes a lower (more acidic) pH.  Acidosis, the state of being acidic, is dangerous.  The body compensates by leeching calcium from the bones in order to regulate the pH.

What can you do to regulate your pH?  Purchase some pH test strips (see link below) and check your pH weekly.  Good strips should show tenths of a point instead of just whole numbers.

There are some milestones you can cross in your pH journey:
Take 1,200 mg of a high quality calcium supplement daily.
Take 2,000 IU of D3 daily.
Drop all soda from your diet.  Yes, all.  Soda leeches calcium from your bones.
Decrease your sugar intake.  Sugar creates acidosis.
Drink plenty of mineral water with fresh lemon juice.
Eat yogurt but decrease other dairy products.  Yogurt is the only dairy product that promotes a healthy pH.
Eat more raw fruit and vegetables.
Cut back on animal products (except yogurt).
Practice deep-breathing.

As my daughter says, "Be dense."

Milestones

mile·stone   noun /ˈmīlˌstōn/
  1. A stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles to a particular place
  2. An action or event marking a significant change or stage in development
I have always been fond of watching for highway mile markers on my journeys.  Mile markers mark distances and give me a sense of direction and accomplishment.  When I write directions, I include the mile marker for the exit so that I have a concrete, measurable goal ahead.  Mile markers also break up a "journey of a thousand miles" into single steps.

One's health journey is also one of milestones (or mile markers).  The focus on individual, measurable goals  breaks the health journey into single steps which are obtainable.  There is joy in passing each milestone, and the road ahead becomes more of a victory journey instead of a victim's journey.

Be victorious.
